When the switch is used to close the window, 'auto close' it closes then backs off about 30cm. When the switch is held at the first setting it will fully close.

When the 'all window switch is used to close the window fully closes. I tried the reset 'hold for 1 second etc but to no avail.

Any ideas new switch?

clk window

Hi

This was a very common fault with first of the clk's to have the window drop function on opening the door take it to your nearest dealer and they should be able to carry out a software update to the door control module ask them to do it to both doors. make sure you get someone who knows what the procces is, it does work but it has to be done in the correct order:

Similar problems to window autoclose

I've got the same issue with my CLK 320 cabrio. Had the windows 'reset' 4 times now. Bought the car last year at one year old and the dealer reset teh windows then. It lasted two months. Had them reset this year on service at another dealer and they charged me £60 saying it wasn't a warranty item, as it was 'an adjustment'. Any opinions on that folks?

The reset lasted two weeks before the windows started dropping about three inches again. I've had it reset twice since then, and it packed up again two weeks ago. It's driving me crazy. Are both dealers not doing the right thing, or does the software update not always work?

What's the story behind this, and can anyone recommend a permanent fix? My warranty expires next January.

What a fantastic site. So good to find somewhere where people have similar experiences.

window drop

Hi

I would say your dealer should be claiming THIS on warrenty. This is very definatley a warrenty item. If it was an adjustment to the windows this is still warrenty not a "service item" get back to them and demand your money back and contact MB customer service I have never heard anything so outragous.

The fix is a software update to the door control modules this only takes a few minutes and is very succesful, if this fails new door control modules are the next fix and if this fails there is a problem with the window slides causing a tight point which is being seen as an obstruction ALL THESE ITEMS ARE WARRENTY.

If you continue to have trouble with your dealer ask for a print out of the "short test" result this will have the door control module part number on, please post your chassis number with the DCM number and I will check to see if this is correct.

DON'T PAY FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN SERVICE ITEMS OR THINGS WHICH YOU HAVE DAMAGED WHILE THE CAR IS UNDER WARRENTY

Fixing electric windows on CLK

I finally got my windows fixed (forgot my username colin_thames so a new nom de plume here). I insisted at the dealer that they fix it and apparently the chief technician had a wrinkle that sorted it out. That was 6 months ago and no problems since. Mind you, the windows would take your arm off now if you got in the way! I never did get a refund of the cost - I was more concerned to get it fixed. But I agree - outrageous.

To anyone else out there with window problems - insist on it being fixed. If reprogramming doesn't work ask to speak to the chief technician or whatever.

CLK windows

This is a common problem with Cabs.

The electric windows MUST align perfectly with the soft-top seals, or the sensors will react to the resistance as if there is something in the way (such as a child's head !). The sensor response is to partially re-open the window.

This can be overcome each time it happens with a re-set (keep your finger on the close button for 10 seconds or so), but the only real solution is to have the windows re-aligned - a long and expensive job (all labour) unless your car is under warranty.

My 4 year old 230K has been 'repaired' under warranty about 12 times, but there has been no permanent fix until a full re-alignment was carried out recently (within my MB service contract, thankfully).
