Just had Mot's on the S & SL this Morning, both passed. It was noted that the offside side front wheel, rear, that the Air strut attaches too has a bit play. Not enough to fail the Mot But advisable on S. Is this something that can be replaced by my mobile guy (fitted ball joints on the SL ) i use or is this something that will take me to a independent?.
I wonder whether the air strut aspect adds a problem to what is really three bolt remove and fit. Anybody have experience re this strut replacement/ air strut fit?. (FYI the bearing that attaches the air strut is the middle one)

Having looked online it seems you just loosen the 10 mm nut which feeds the air strut with air. Letting the air out to make removal of the lower control arm easier. Then let the pump just put air back into the deflated strut after you have replaced the lower control arm and reconnected the air line . Similar to a air strut replacement.

I’d take it to a recommended indy on the basis it will not be expensive, plus they will have right kit to set it up the air suspension if needed. I’d also go for lemforder arms if available.

(I was quoted about £300 labour for replacement of both front air struts so it’s a relatively quick and simple job in relation to that arm).
