Front tyre wear 51 plate 320 cdi estate

Hi, myfront tyres according to the local stealer while in for a service are worn on the inside (6mm on outside 2mm on inside) and advised that tracking should be checked! could it have anything to do with front springs ie sagging suspension? regards AA

I had exactly the same problem, 3 wheels needed alligning, made an amazing difference to the drive & wear. You are best to a specialist lazer allignment place rather than plain wheel allignment.

depends a bit on what tyres you have too. Mine runs on 245s which I suspect exentuates the camber and so wears the inner edges fatser than the outer ones. I've upped the pressures a bit to compensate.
It si probably alignment though.

hi, aa1, i have been all around the mullberry bush on this problem. full four wheel alignment check, lazer tracking, new bottom ball joints etc. in the end i went to an ex. merc. man in southport, lancashire. he said that mercs drift into neg. camber and toeing out, he set things up for me and invited me to observe his lazer/computer system. he then pointed out that in his experience mercs do this and you can only massarge the situation, they ride well but they are a very poor design for tyre longevity. he also added that mercs pull slightly to the n/side and moved to the other side of the road to demonstrate the opposite occured on the other side of the road, not a problem, just an idiosyncracy of the breed. herbiemercman.
