After having years of trouble free motoring from my C200 I now have a problem with the front wiper. It starts to move, then stops half way up the windscreen and makes a worrying noise. Having obtained prices for both a new motor and also wiper gear assembly, Mercedes have confirmed what I already knew, I can't afford them. I have now found these parts second hand and would like to fit them myself if possible. Or is this mission impossible?? Has anyone else done this and are there any good tips?

Sorry if this subject has been posted before. I did have a look through before posting.

Hoping for some help on this :???: Jenny

Hi Jenny,
No it's not mission impossible in fact it's a fairly straightforward job which should take about 1-2hours depending how capable you are, this link will show you how to get into the system ;http://members.lycos.nl/mbenz/windshield_wiper.htm ; disregard the adjustment to vertical parking and remember the car shown is LHD.
Also this link will show you how to lubricate the drivehead to save future problems ; http://202tech.mkosonen.com/howto/wiper.html ; in fact I would try this with your existing unit as it may just need lubricating.

Many thanks! I will try your suggestion of lubricating the drivehead. If this doesn't work, I'll save the replacement job for the weekend so I have plenty of daylight hours. Really appreciate the tips and I'll let you know how I get on.:D
