C 180 Classic SE Komp 54 Plate
Recently acquired C180 SE Komp 54 reg 65k miles FSH had continental headlight beam plastic deflectors, and the gum residue still persists on the lens.

The lens themselves are frosted anyway, and T Cut, WD 40 etc has not removed the gum residue or the frosting - if anything it has made them worse

Any suggestions appreciated

Regards

Buy some trade strength hand cleaning wipes that should work on the glue residue (or a tiny amount of petrol, or 100% alcohol ) . For the frosting , there are plenty of "headlight cleaning kits" online at Halfords etc in the region £6-20 , (that use a power drill to get the work done )

You can clean up the lenses with fine wet and dry. Start with 1500 grit, then go to 2000 and finish on 2500.
To finally clean them up use brasso and finally court with a UV resistant clear coat.

The lights will look terrible after being attacked with 1500 but just go with it - the end result is superb.
