I was advised over this forum that my starting problem with my E320 CE Coupe might be to do with my fuel accumulator. I have contacted my local mercedes dealer who states that my car does not have one. Is he talking out of his arse as I suspect he is?

your system is mecedes HFM multi port sequential so its a modern system, its mainly the bosch j/k/ke systems that used the accumulator

Speak english for god sakes man.

Does this mean I have an accumulator or not.

If not then how can this be part of the starting problem? Cheers

Hello,

Yes, you have a fuel accumulator, which located beside the fuel pump.

your system does not have the accumulator thats for early bosch systems, newer systems use a none return valve in the pump and i get pd off when people make remarks like that

Not that I have such a 'new car' but what is the absolute minimum a DIY would need in terms of instruments to follow those procedures the best I run to is a DVM - but wouldn't you at least need a code reader?

Have you got similar access to diagnostic info on my car?

Thanks.

code reader/reseter if pos but a multimeter is a must, i had for years managed with just the multimeter and was only forced into getting special diagnostic stuff because of the newer cars 2001 up over, a simple code reader/reset tool is enough

Hi Teky
Just checked on mine and I have the old bolt on fuel filter. This apparently means that I have the old system with a fuel accumulator. If this is so which I think it is, what does the fuel accumulator do, as I do not want to spend £100 replacing it if it is not the problem.

Cheers

it a holding pressure sphere to keep the pressure there between the injctors and the tank sort of like a pre-fuel primer but dosnt cast any where near £100 more like £15 from a motorfactors
