The weather in Glasgow is about right to get those fuel figures, sounds normal to me, once the temputure goes back to normal so will the car.

It all depends on what sort of driving you are doing. I have seen as low as 13mpg on my 240, and as hight as 37 on one steady run. If its a lot of town driving in heavy traffic, 19 is perfectly ok.

Look in the phone book for independent MB specialists ,there are 2 or 3 in Glasgow area who are a lot cheaper and probably more knowledgeable than your dealer.

A bloke on another Merc forum I use (benzworld) had a 190E with poor mpg and erratic idle and it turned out it was caused by a faulty fuel distributor. It's an expensive part but I think it is not beyond a DIY job to replace. I'd get it onto diagnostics somewhere to find out if if there is something wrong and what it is. I have a 2.6 190 and I get 30 odd plus MPG.

Hi,
I just bought my C180 and alongwith very poor fule consumption, the pick-up is really low as well and I have to press the accelerator all the way down to move the car - you mentioned the fuel distributor, I suspect this might be faulty on my car. Do you mean the Air Mass Sensor? By the way, since you live in Glasgow can you recommend any garage who knows this car as I also live in Glasgow

thanks mate
