When I fill the tank the contents gauge will sometimes read zero or full. When some fuel has been used its stays on full for some time then will read OK once the tank is at 3/4. Does the sender need cleaning? if so where does it live?
This happend to my clk 320 vg w208 last year - luckily it was under warrenty....I talked to the Mercedes mechanics who told me this a common problem and the fuel sender/sensor unit was changed on later models...there was no recall but most mercs were taken back by there owners.....mine was replaced...takes about half a day and would be v expensive if not warrentied ...beware the front ball joints and rust .... remember to make use of the 6 yr corrosion warrenty ... mine has had new front and rear wings and respray recently....after discussion with mercedes, constant attendance at there show room and implied court action!!
