Just about to buy my first Merc, a C200 diesel.
Although it states it is very economical I have been looking at a website that re-maps the software and recons another 10-15% economy. Has anyone any experience of this process? If this can be done effectively then why don't Mecedes do it from the factory? Cost is £180, which I would recoup in 6 months.
Also seen some gadgets on ebay. One is a strong magnet that is put in the fuel line, the other is a gadget for the air intake that 'spins' the air in a vortex on the air intake. Both recon better fuel economy and cost very little. For a tenner I may just try them out, especially the air intake one as it almost sounds feasible.
Any views or are these?
Thanks Gary

If magnets & vortexes increased MPG, all the major manufacturers would have fitted them by now. Save your money, they are usually sold to gullible americans first & then surface over here.
