So had to go in to the office today for the first time in many months and since I got me new car. First chance I've had for a real comparison against the E220d. I used to get around 45mpg on the journey in the old car - below is the new one - not bad at all for a 340bph estate with permanent 4WD I don't think.:)

It would be interesting to do a real test, I'm still wanting to do it on mine. Fill up then test. Very Interesting

That’s a good return for 340bhp . I pretty much only check my cars mpg usage to verify that everything is running right .
I wait until the engine is warm and I’m on the motorway in cruise control at 70 , then reset the trip , if after an hour it’s giving the figures I expect then that’s confirmation all is ok .
With the E class the fact that I can drive 600+ miles to North Wales and back without filling up works for me :D

Should recommend one to Dominic Cummings - he could go to Barnard Castle and back for an eye test without stopping for fuel...
His eyesight was ok more like he seen £ signs on that trip as two days later GlaxoSmithKline signed a Government deal to develop and manufacture a Covid-19 vaccine with Sanofi of France? and Castle Barnard is the main research and manufacturing facility for GlaxoSmithKline
Heres another one, sorry to go off topic

Used to be part of my Land Rover stomping ground in years gone by. I lived in Lancaster at the time.
Spent a very cold and wintry few days up around Carlisle during a hard winter driving care nurses about to visit the elderly. It was actually quite good fun as aside from 4x4s there was nothing moving on the roads.

Yup, and the hill out on both sides... all ice up nicely in the winter and the bottom floods the rest of the year :p

Had my SL350 a few weeks now and usual use is sunny weekend drive out with SWMBO but I have used it for a commute from Stratford upon Avon to Liverpool and back. .I leave around 5.30am in morning and sat it on cruise at indicated 70mph and 55/65mph through the roadworks and try to maintain that speed without 'intervention' where possible.

Got an indicated 38.7mpg on the round trip (I get around 37mpg in my usual wheels of V8 4.4d RRS on similar journey).

Weekend jaunts seem to hover around 30'ish (about what I am expecting overall) but an, er, 'enthusiastic' drive along some nice A/B roads this weekend saw it dip to 23mpg for that 50 miles or so use....;)
