Fuel filler cap and central locking 260e

l have a 1987 Mercedes 260e recently my fuel filler cap and central locking have stopping working.
Normally they open and close on the door key.
Can anybody suggest solution please.
l have worked out how to open my fuel filler cap cover and the doors have to be open and closed individually.
Can anybody suggest the problem and what l have to change.

I think your 260E will have vacuum controlled c/l - controlled by a pump under the rear seats...

The filler cap is also locked with this system.

Sometimes a fuse pulled out will re-set the pump.
The pump itself may have failed.
Check if the pump is working, or when you get it working again, that all the doors lock - if one doesnt, then its likely to be a vacuum leak which causes the pump to time out then shut down.

Check each of the vacuum lines for a leak.

If the locks work the pump is Ok! As mentioned check for vacuum leak if no leak.

I know this sounds crazy but I am speaking of the actuator.

Remove actuator then blow and suck into it the rod should move in and out. :mrgreen:

I think it's a fuse or the main pump has failed. The pump is under the back seat in my car but I don't know about your model. Check the fuse box first and change the fuse for the central locking.

I found a dud actuator on one of the rear doors, you could hear it hissing when the pump ran.
