Fuel Filter Location

Can anyone help me locate the fuel filter on a 2002 C180 Classic, having just seen the huge amount of money that the dealer wants from my brother in law to replace it we decided to do it ourselves but need a hint as to which huge bits of plastic need to be removed to find it, also any good sources for cheap service items up here in the frozen north (Scotland), We are new to this but reckon that we should be able to carry out most service tasks, being the proud owner of a selection of large hammers, an adjustable spanner and set of Stillsons.

Thanks in anticipation

Don't forget the spares, bent nail and bailer twine :)

Thanks for the help I am concerned about the additional tools, I never needed them before, the bigges and heaviest hammer usually sorts things out and if it doesn't it certainly makes me feel better.
