help!
I have been messing again. I should not have started on this one but it is too late now.
I exchanged the fuel filter ok but now my car refuses to start!
I probably need to bleed or prime the system but I can not find a way of doing this.
Anybody got any ideas?
I only found 1 O ring on the banjo union but fitted the 2 included in the kit assuming that the small one fell off during dismantleing.

You just have to keep cranking it over until it starts, you might want to connect a booster to ypur battery as it can take a while.

Another way to avoid this is to fill the new filter with diesel before fitting.

Best way to do it is remove fuel filter and fill it with diesel and refit, then you will not have to crank the engine for so long before it starts. hope this helps

Having just replaced my filter, I totally agree with the two other posters....just keep cranking away, it should eventually catch.

Not sure about you, but I found it a damn messy job....diesel everywhere

Thanks for the help.
I recharged the battery, dismantled again to check all ok, filled the filter to the brim with fuel (yes it is a messy smelly job) reassembled and cranked away.
Magic! I might begin to like this car after all but it is early days yet.
(just parted from a 1986 200T at 204000miles -bought in 1991 at 74000miles)
Unfortunately I am a compulsive messer so anything can happen so thanks again chaps.
