Fuel filter

Just been advised that as my c-class has hit 100-000miles it should have the fuel filter replaced, is it as straightforward as it looks on videos to replace,

Pretty much , the system primes itself using the ignition on and off 3 times with a 10 second gap. Just make sure to check for leaks after you get done.

...and use the correct fuel clamps. Not jubilee clips.

How often should you change the fuel filter? I've done nearly 40 000 miles since mine was changed.

40 is a good number. Get it changed.
The MB intervals are rather long.

Around 40k possibly 60k or 5 years

Buy a set of CLIC r pliers off Amazon for £6 and watch YouTube how to use them. Makes getting the clips on and off so much easier

I unclipped with a small screwdriver and mole grips and re clicked using small mole grips . Doddle .

I'd probable bu@@er the clips up causing a fuel leak and wouldn't be able to find suitable new clips for days, so for 6 quid I'll get some Click r pliers when the time is right.

You can also use proper fuel line jubilee clips instead if you wish.

Mine was changed at 60-000 by Mercedes so would that mean they recommend every 60-000

On all 3 MB's I've owned or own (2001 S203 C270, 2008 S204 C220 and 2008 SLK280) the MB recommended fuel filter change is every 4 years.

Depends on the car , but yes , more or less .
