At a certain point in time our cars stop having the normal service, and one piece that is often neglected or forgotten is the fuel filter both petrol and deisel. This can have a double effect.
First, during a cold start with petrol, the car needs almost double the normal running supply of fuel. A clogged filer can stop the car from starting. In extreem cases I have seen filters where the outer case has corroded, leaking petrol under the car
Second, when the fuel filter is clogged it can load the fuel pump beyond its normal ratings, more so with 116,124,126,129 and 140 cars, As many of these owners know, the fuel pump relay, wiring harness and fuse box can burn out.
