Ok, it's like this: awful hum/whine from rear of 1997 CLK320 Sport when fully toed has been narrowed to fuel pump. Anyone recommend a pump supplier?

Also: as a newbie who has just acquired said 320 Sport (W208?? with 70,000miles), who has replaced their rear shocks, and what with and where from?

Finally (sorry), anyone have the whereabouts I can get hold of a workshop manual (CD-Rom or traditional paper) for the CLK320?

I apologise for the questions, but I'm new to Mercedes ownership -- saw the car and fell in love -- and I also want to know if you guys have a specialised parts supplier for all things Mercedes you can recommend?

Regards

Hello and welcome tio the forum

I would do a search "shocks" on the forum as there have been a few post on this recently with after market ones.

I am not sure how the fuel pump could be heard when floored.

The only info is on Ebay but hard to install and use.

Many parts a special to MB euromerc in my signature has cheap new parts

Sir...

Sir... I acknowledge your wisdom and scorn with regards to fuel pump whine! Only when 'floored' does the fuel pump begin to whine (badly) and can be heard on coast down or on neutral throttle.
It only goes after some miles or after extended stop.
The car has 70,000 miles showing and needs a little tlc after i picked it up for what I consider a bargain price for a lot of car. Shame it is green but beggars can't be choosers.

Now would you look at that lovely exploded view of the petrol pump. Now sir does have a library. Yes, seen the Reaper-bay ads for CD-roms and can't figure how only Americans have such things for sale. But mine is not to reason only to say 'sod that'.

I'll attack fuel pump next week when i get back my pipe clamps from a friend (ex?). Appreciate the diagram lots.
Also found this the other week http://www.walbropumps.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2735 which may be the sane alternative.
G'night.

Many thanks for that link. Hmmm, rubber mounts for the engine. Got a feeling the shudder felt on intial kick or lift off of throttle may have summat to do with these beauties being knackered. Boogah.

Fuel pump may be straining due to clogged fuel filter, as they hardly ever get changed, as they are hidden under a cover near rear wheel with pump.

I have seen one David where the fuel filter was so old it was leaking as it had rotted through the case:(
