fuel gauge has died.

hi,, i wonder if anyone can shed some light on this proplem.. i have a 2002 ml 500. my fuel gauge has been going down very slowley even when im running on lpg. its now gone down to empty and stays there, yet theres a full tank of petrol. weather this is connected,, but the car was started on a boost charger a few weeks ago?. is the tank sender easy to get at, and is there a way of checking it... thanks for any help..andy

Cant see this being the float if it does it on gas, and this is not the way they behave

You could try some injector cleaner in the tank, just to see if it will rejuvenate a faulty sender..
