Hi Guys, got an E Class, 1998, E230 (Round Lights), Fuel gauge knackered always reads full tank (embarrasingly ran out of fuel couple of times). Tried the Redex trick a month ago, dont seem to work still, any help will be appreciated, I wana try cleaning the "sender" but havent got a clue where it is and how to get to it. Thanks folks!

The tank is in the boot behind the back seat. The sender is at the top of the tank and requires a two pronged tool to unscrew it.

Check for a trapped wire as full means the gauge is shorted to earth.

Unplug the connector on the level sensor, if it drops to zero then its likely the sensor unit, however as dieselman a shorted wire is more likely i think.
