Fuel gauge

Could someone shed some light on a little problem that i am having with my 1995 C 230 the one day i get in the car and the fuel gauge is showing empty but the tank was full so i shook the car thinking a float is sticking of something and now the gauge show full all the time any help would be gratefull.

Sounds like your fuel level sender unit (the bit in your fuel tank that sends a signal to your dash gauge) has failed, this is a common problem on the W202 C Class. If you search this forum for fuel gauge fail or similar you'll see plenty of similar posts to yours. You can't repair the failed item so the only option is to get a replacement.
