Fuel pump is very noisy, not just buzzing

Problem with 1983 - 380SEC UK Version
I replaced the fuel pump as the original one was not working.
The fuel pump is very noisy, not just buzzing but a loud humming noise clearly heard inside and outside the car when driving.
The engine also cuts out sometimes at around 30-40MPH.
Engine sometimes splutters when accelerating.
Thought it might be a faulty replacement fuel pump, so I exchanged it.
Problem still there.
Any thoughts?

Is the pump getting a good clean supply of electricity?

Were the pumps OE parts or aftermarket ?
If the latter, let us know the make as this might be a clue
Also, is it mounted correctly (with any associated insulating grommits in place)?

Thank you for the response.

Getting a reading of just under 8 AMPS.

It is a Bosch pump.

The tank is over a quarter full.

Any other thoughts?
