Engine tries to start then imediately cuts out......

Thank to suggestions in really usefull thread:-

http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=27471

Found that fuel pump not energised due to suspect relay - linked conn pins 30-87 and imediatley heard fuel pump running - Engine then starts and runs fine.....

Probably need a replacement relay 001 545 78 05 ; although could still be signaling switch to the relay itself...

A nice cheap used unit would be ideal to finally confirm cause.......

Any recomendations on sourcing a relay (Quoted £140 for new unit from main dealer)

Thanks in advance

If you take the cover off you could find that it is a badly soldered dry joint that is causing the problem, if you re solder all of the joints on the PCB using a cored flus solder, it will work again

television,

Thanks very much, I was very skeptical, but spookily enough looking at the circuit board there was a very obvious joint with a physical flaw between the post and the solder land on the board. I Resoldered the 1 joint and 100% fix.........

You could not give me some hints about tonights lottery could you.........

Thanks again

Roy
