Hi All,
Ive got a 1990 200te thats just failed on me.
I'm getting spark so that should rule out crankshaft sensor. So its fuel related, therefore I'm being led towards it being the fuel pump relay. Is there any way this can be tested? Is it located behind the battery with kickdown on it? Could this cause the car to turn overbut not fire? Any help with this would be most appreciated, dont fancy giving £85 for a relay to find out its not that!!
Thanks in advance...

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
take it out and put a jumper lead between pin 30 and 87 and the car should run if the realy is faulty

The printed circuit can go open sircuit and can be soldered up

Thanks Malcolm,
Is it easy enough to do as not very technical around a motor?
Is it the relay with 'kickdown' on it and are the pins labeled?

Have a look at the thread "cut out solution" as it may help.

I've just wasted money on a Crankshaft Sensor and also had the fuel pump assembly replaced. The fuel pump was I think part of the problem owing to very long turning over if left for a week, before it would fire up even though I could hear continuous sound.. Then the car cut out at 70mph on the A12 for no reason. It was a nightmare. I've changed the Fuel Pump relay and just bought a s/hand one on ebay - usa, for would you believe Dllrs 16 delivered USP. Now this relay has the same number of pins but a different coding. May cut out at slightly lower revs 5,000 instead of 5950 but when do I go up beyond 3,000?? Never. As long as number of cylinders 98Zyl12V in my case, I don't think it will make a difference. I had a later brand new FPR with many more pins inserted and car ran fine. Becaue I reverted to a previous relay whch worked for thousands of miles, I sold the later Relay. Regretting that, as the older one has now probably failed.

Put the code number into Google and see what threads you can find. China make them, and I saw my own number 001 545 34 05 new for just Dllrs 44 on one site - but you have to buy 750!!
