the electric fuel pump usually emits a buzzing sound -this is normal.
however, it it is really loud, then the question to ask would be,when was the fuel filter last changed?
a partially clogged one may increase the noise from the pump.
Nick thats what you get for switching of the cure for all known noises. Don't worry about the fuel pump noise. Even when they are really noisey they seem to operate ok. Even replacing them, they can be noisey quite quickly again.
Turn the radio UP!! and don't worry, ignorence is BLISS.
Its one of the few times I wouldn't worry to much about a louder than usual noise. If it gets really groaning, you will know what I mean. Then change it. But if its only just a normal buzzing and no labouring to it don't worry about.
Thank you guys, I think keeping the radio on , sounds good (pardon the pun),
perhaps I'll have a look at the fuel filter at a later date, I don't fancy changing that at the moment..
