Like all these things, if it were that simple, the manufacturers would fit them. After all, isn't better performance and improved MPG something they spend millions researching every year?
There is a reason that chipping a car improves them, but the rest is bunkum.
To my knowledge, not one of these gizmos has ever passed a scientific test.

Any evidence of it working normally comes in the form of a letter stating how impressed Mr Gullable is.

If as you suggest they only restrict fuel flow by crushing the pipe your engine will run too lean resulting in serious damage to both engine and cat etc.

Took a look and it seems a good idea.

Just one question: With all this magnetic activity going on, how does it interact with MagTec oil..??

I guess it makes sense to some extent though with many components made of alloys, it's effects could be limited, plus, a good quality filter should stop the majority of fragments anyway.
Thinking about it, I seem to remember a small circular magnet fastened on the inside of the sump of my Escort. It was there from manufacture.. - Anyone know if I just made that up, or do most cars have these things anyway?

checking google - lots of cars have magnetic sump plugs and others have the magnet as described above. If your merc has one, you're wasting your money.

not really as the magnets on the sump etc arent anywhere near as powerful , there designed for bigger fragments , but the ones im on about pick up the tiny stuff that goes through the filter , just read the website and it will show you how the small stuff just ignores the filters. for the price its worth it imo , there so powerful they have no problem picking up bits from alloys. if youve ever played with Neodymium magnets you'll know how powerful they are , i put one either side of my hand and it stuck no problems and actually hurt a little too lol
