Hi folks
Has anyone fitted the non return valve to the fuel system of the 250 td engine, if so where does it go , whats the cost and where is it obtained. I'm having cold start problems unless i park nose slightly downhill.

Had the same once on my Astra. Having had the car serviced in the main dealer I drove the car the 13 miles to a mates and parked it facing uphill. After half an hour it would not start. After a lift home and a few words with Vauxhall I called the AA and they started it using easystart (I know - I didnot like the idea) and after a trip back to the dealer it was found that one of the injector return pipes needed replacing. This was done and It's never played up since. (Funny thing that it was working fine before it went in for service though)

Back to your problem though, It could be a number of things that are leaking air into the system and forcing the fuel out of the filter, making it a bu**er to start. Are you sure its the non return valve?

250 air leaks

This topic has been debated at length lots of times on this forum & others - a search will reveal all

Normally the problem is an air leak in the fuel pipes. There is an MB mod with a non-return valve and a dealer should be able to tell you where to put it

Just had replaced Non-return Valve cost £20.81 delivered by post, did not fix hot-start problem in Petrol engine. Its at the back end near/or adjoining? p/pump.

When car died on me recently and AA could not get it to start or even kickfire with squirty in the Air Filter entrance to injectors I had to be towed home.

My mechie said Rotor Arm failure and also Dist cap arcing. Replaced both, great cold start, but not solved problem hot start after half and hour. Next step replace p/pump as cannot understand how injectors can work fine on cold but be unclean on hot? Cheaper and more convenient for me to replace with s/hand parts than get a diagnosis, as not into diagnostic testing and costly (and questionable results) at S/centres.
Will let you know if r/petrol pump solves problem.
