I've tried to patch it (small hole on filler neck) but it hasn't worked so I think a new tank is needed. Any suggestions as to best source?
I've tried fueltanksdirect but they can't help.

Depending of the overall condition of the tank, they can be repaired and coated inside with a plastic sealer as used by vintage cars.
