Right here's the thing! Unleaded or Super unleaded given I always run my car on Shell fuel has anyone noticed much of a difference on a 230k engine? is the extra 18p a gallon really worth it or better saving the money and sticking to plain old unleaded?

IMHO use super if you can afford it or someone else is paying. If not use regular Shell / Texaco or BP, these are still better than the supermarket fuel.

Many of us tried it, in some areas its only a few P difference, We all found it to be better, but not at 18P, I spoil myself now and again with it.

A mate of mine has just got rid of his Golf GTI, I can remember him telling me it ran a lot better with Ultimate. Thats what made me start using it in the Robin. It works.
Now all we have to do is upgrade the crew, as I rally it.
Even won a trophy on the last event - The Try Fishing Award - LOL

My experience and from what I've read on here suggests that technically older engines do benefit, but more modern stuff like the 230k don't. I've found no difference between standard and super fuel on my E240 or the 270CDI. MPG was not noticably different and they are pretty quiet and smooth whatever they are running on. So, no it isn't woth the 18p per gallon.
I do use the ultimate diesel every 2nd tank to get the benefit of the detergents though - 18p*14gallons is only £2.50 which is insignificant in what you're spending.
