Just wondering if anyone knows how many miles are left in the tank when the fuel warning light comes on.

my e320cdi gets 40 - 50 miles after fuel light comes on. Range as per dashboard can vary between 65 to 45 miles. Car claps out at 4 miles range left usually

Just wondering if anyone knows how many miles are left in the tank when the fuel warning light comes on.

It IS variable if the fuel sender happens to be defective. I usually manage 100 miles for each of the first 3 quarters marked on the gauge scale but cover substantially less distance for the final quarter. I expect the yellow LED to illuminate at between 320 - 350 miles but experience has taught me that I have more than enough reserve fuel left to exceed 400 miles. However, I don't trust to luck alone and refill at around the 350 mile mark. I trust the odometer more than I trust the fuel gauge.

I have found that some fuel additives can affect the fuel gauge reading and it has something to do with the cleaning action of the additive upon the fuel sender which is basically a sliding contact device.

so many variables its impossible to say. At a steady 50, you may get 40 miles. In town you could run dry after 25. I've let my computer run down to single digits on the odd occasion but it will drop to 9 and roll back up to 25-30 depending on whether I'm rolling or queing.

worry over....managed to get to the biodiesel garage this morning on the way to work....used to get 230ish miles out of a tank before i did my brakes and orange light came on at 296miles....by the time i got to the garage id done 329miles......i did take 2 litres of veg oil with me though just in case i ran out
