Does anybody know if a full size wheel, alloy or otherwise will fit into the spare wheel compartment of my car? The wheels and tyres are standard 16inch for a facelift 203 Saloon. The reason for asking is that a trip to the Continent looms and I would feel better with a full size spare.

Many thanks for any info.

they will but you will have to lose the round dish that sits inside the space saver and the thin box which sits on top of that!!

Spare Wheel

Thanks for your quick reply, Cole. I guessed that the trays would have to go. Presumably if I use a pressed steel wheel, I will have to use the short studs that go along with the space-saver?

If anybody has either a pressed steel wheel or an alloy for sale for the facelifted 203 Elegance - neither need to be pristine - I would be glad to hear from them.

Many thanks,

Ernie

Spare Wheels

Thanks, Padrig, I will have a look on Ebay. Was aware of the hivis vest issue and actually carry one inside the car. My warning triange sits on the boot lid, so that is not affected by the changes.

Does anybody know if a standard 16 inch wheel from a 202 is suitable for a 203? A pressed steel wheel would be OK as it will only be used for spare.

Thanks,

Ernie

Sorted courtesy of MB

Hi Folks,
Just a quick follow up to the spare wheel question......After many hours searching ebay and many of the specialist breakers and drawing blanks everywhere I tried, I have bought a pressed steel wheel from my local MB dealer for £44.86 including the correct studs and VAT. As it's from a Dealer, there is no carriage charge.

Thought this might be useful info for anybody who uses steel wheels during the winter months and might be searching unsuccessfully for them.
