I have a new G400, on the sat nav maps there are no speed cameras showing or alerts. Can somebody please advise me how I can get this information onto my car's system? Any help greatly appreciated.
it may have gone all wrong as germany went mad and made it illegal - so they started to turn it off over here...
France did that years back - in the end I think a judge said stuff u, maybe not call it "speed cam warnings" - but "safety warnings" and they all turned it back on again...
After all if it's dangerous enough we must put a camera to make is safe, it must be a dangerous place right ? otherwise it would be impeding upon our freedoms and a illegal tax making scheme that would put the gov at more risk... except Germans allegedly do as they are told, and the world moved the goal posts -
if its off, as in no longer fitted - there are complex ways to add a better database....
it isn't total rocket science.. a good directional database of real warnings can just be a POI (point of interest) on the nav mapping. Later cars often allow a user to add own gibberish (which fortunately includes the ability to add danger spots) - some can give the audible bit you need as well
Safety camera database for Mercedes Comand Online and MBUX with all stationary speed and red light monitoring systems worldwide. At the moment, there are more than 114,000 stationary safety cameras in our database. Consequently, you have access to the most extensive and accurate database...
Many thanks, I believe your understanding of technology is somewhat more advanced than me. I will contact SCDB. How is the information loaded onto the car? Please be gentle with anything technological terms!
not exactly sure the system u have - a good place to get expert advice on how Merc built the car and what Merc toys you can tinker with on the infotainment, is to go armed with the VIN (chassis number) and make a polite inquiry to one of the forum sponsors who specialise on beating Merc infotainment into submission and or adding missing interior toys the car wasn't specced with when built. It's worth ensuring they really killed it from the factory and it can't be re-enabled
and or try and make sense of the instructions on the SCDB site https://www.scdb.info/en/installation-mercedes-comand-online/ this one will be way more comprehensive and up to date - at best a built in one is likely 18 months out from new (and always will be)
