I'm sure this topic has been posted before but:-
in 2018 I bought a C200 Saloon (2017 plate) which was prepared for a Garmin Map Pilot SatNav, but without an SD card. I bought a card online and it worked perfectly.
Last month I traded the car in for a 2019 plate C200 AMG Line, which was fitted with a Garmin Map Pilot SatNav, which has never worked properly, and will not recognise destinations when trying to input addresses, nor in most cases even post codes.
I've seen posts that slate the quality of Map Pilot SatNavs, but since my previous one worked perfectly, I'm at a loss to understand why.
The main dealer from whom I bought the car has been unable to assist and I've contacted M-B head office in Milton Keynes and am still waiting for a response after 10 days.
Does anyone have any info?
Incidentally, the YouTube videos which claim to give instructions on the operation of the SatNav, show a different screen display from mine, and are as per my old system.
Garmin refuse to even discuss this when I mention the unit is installed in a Merc.
Any help will be much appreciated.

I haven’t got any personal experience of the Garmin system but, if I had bought a car a month ago from a main dealer, and I was having this problem, I would return the car, insist on a loan car and tell them to call me when they have sorted it. Threatening to reject the car and ask for a refund may also focus their mind!

Good luck.

I have a Garmin in my C200. The one I inherited when I bought the car didn’t recognise many addresses or postcodes I wanted to use. I bought the latest version SD card for it and that had a completely different format. That would perhaps explain why the YouTube versions are completely different. A new format must be part of the update, not sure why they would do that mind you. Hasn’t made it any easier to program

Thanks Andy, what are the details of the SD card you bought?
I took my car back to the dealer and they replaced the card with an updated one.
The one I now have is Europe 2021/2022, Version 3.1 (Map9.0)
The one in the car when I bought it was Europe 2018/2019, Version 2.3 (Map3.4)

In my previous C200 (2017 plate), the card I bought, which worked perfectly was Europe 2018 Version 10.0 (Map10.0). Of course I tried that card in my current car, but it won't recognise it.

My C200 is a 2017, I don’t know if it makes any difference. I am at my Granddaughters at the moment, when I get home I will have a look and give you the details and where I got it :)

Hi Sel, this the update I bought. Sceptics will probably say it can't be genuine at that price but it came in what looked like genuine packaging and had a correct part number on it. When I ordered ti the vendor responded by asking me what the vehicle was and the year of the vehicle. It loaded fine and operates fine, just a little different opening format which is a lot tidier. :)

Hope it works for you :)

I just bought a new SD card from Bay £99, and it comes with 3 years traffic from Tomtom. I was sceptical but it all seems to work. The GPS traffic ident page shows me it has 3 years subscription, and the route now shows traffic or roadworks etc.

For the record, Mercedes Heathrow told me over the phone it would be £500+, and when I went there the guy even came out to see my setup, told me the same story. He suggested I buy an SD card reader and update myself, which is the advice for a completely different system. Mercedes Brentford got the right system and said it would be £99, but had no stock and wouldn't order me one because "too many customers blame them when it doesn't work". A sorry state for a premium brand.
