Hi Wighty, does the turbo come with control circuit and lever arm actuator, which is I believe the main problem, and one can not buy it separately, so new turbo with associated circuit board and actuating lever.

That's the problem that Prestige Motors told me when they had a look at it, so I am biting the bullet and getting it replaced

You can buy actuators seperately, go to any turbo place, you just need to match the codes on the actuator, make sure the arms are moving free and the vanes are not clogged, Wynns turbo cleaner is good.

I changed the actuator on my W251 3 years ago. No issues since.
MB do not sell the actuator separately and Garret/Hella are B2B, many turbo specialists places also repair actuators (usually worn plastic worm gear or dry solder).
Got mine from midland turbos (local to me and was 120 notes).
Turbos rarely fail, but something associated with does.
