Hi,
A Selsdon500 says its in the passenger side footwell behind a steel plate that is attached via 3 6mm plastic nuts, check for oil on the looms as this could of caused the failure of the ECU, if there is oil contamination present you will need to replace the pilot bush on the gearbox. A common fault with the 722.6 gearbox.
I can,t say that will resolve your harsh gear changes, have you checked your GB oil level?
Fluid level is fine. Basically erractically at lower gears the box bangs when it changes 2-3. Not every time, you can control it with careful use of the accelorator but it always catches you out whenmforgotten. Does it in reverse too!
This is nothing to do with the pump as the vacuum for the box comes from the engine inlet manifold as in the diagram in the link where the engine is shown
I assume those pipes run underneath the chassis? Can you throw any light on this ancillary sympton?
When the car comes to rest after braking it then seems to have a little thrust almost as though it's accelarating on it's own, foot nowhere near the accelorator at the time? Thanks
The pipes leave the top of the engine and drop down to the gear box passenger side over the rwar of the engine.
If your idle is too high then the car will try and move when held by the brake,,RPM of about 750 is OK if its going up to 1200, the the ecu is not being switched over to the idle control
