I've been thinking of the same. An indi has quoted 195 plus vat which I think is reasonable. Not that I'd know!!!!!!

The ATF, filter, sump bolts, etc. will cost over £100.
To DIY it, you will need a pump to put the new ATF in and and adaptor to connect to the sump. You will also need a low range torque wrench. That is assuming that you have the other items such as ramps, axle stands, sockets, etc.

£195 is a good price but make sure it includes draining the TC.

I agree, make sure its all the fluid. We are closer to 290 if you have stop/start (7g +)

what an unbelievable amount of faff to change gearbox oil .back in the day i could drop a ford escort gearbox on my own in 25 min overhaul it ( i had the limited kit required , dummy layshaft, butane lamp to heat tail housing seal installer and press ) in 45 min and put it back in 35 min time not incl dishwasher style steam cleaner time, assumes pts required ,bearings, needles, thrusts .seals, sincro,s avail.
if i could not do this stuff myself i would be priced out of ownership ,it never ceases to amaze me that £195.00 could seem reasonable for an oil change !! not at all sure this is progress ..unless criteria is from dealer perspective ?

I agree, it is a bit of a palaver, however on the 7G+ it is only required every 75,000 miles or 4 years.

There is a lot of engineering sophistication going on in the gearbox & TC -- so if £250 to £400 every 4 years keeps it working smoothly, it is cheap.

actually i dont think its that sophisticated in itself. the electronics make it so. small oil passages miniature valves ect make it so

Hmm I have a 7g+ gearbox and believe the first ATF change is at 31k miles, which I have just attained.

Reading from various sources, 31k,37k 39k 75k and 77.5k miles are mentioned ATF changes on a 7g+ box:confused:.
A definitive answer would be useful.

Five ATF changes in 77.5K sounds a bit excessive!

The first oil change for the 7+g/b is 75k miles or 5 years the AMG I believe is sooner which is understandable

Thank you.
So mine is due being a 2014 with 31k miles and an AMG.

Just to add to the confusion.
Our B class with the 7 speed box is every five years or 45000 miles. MB dealer price was £409.
Luckily, an electrical component within it packed up so we split the bill and had a service thrown in.
