Can't see any values...?
I'm not sure what happened to my last post, I'm not to retype that lot!It would appear from my fill times:
k1 - 1-2 - 4
k2 - 2-3 - 9
k3 2-3 - 9
k3 - 3-4 - 9
k1 - 4-5 - 8
That K2 and K3 clutches are rather worn (not that suprising given the engine).
1-2 seems ok though.

Those numbers arn t good but better than mine. May I suggest you reset the adaptations and see how she drives. She'll trim back to the numbers you have in a few days but it would be interesting to know if there is any change.
Sounds like a plan. Those are after resetting the adaptions and driving for a bit. What are your numbers?
Im going to get the valve body rebuilt and put a new electroplate on it whilst I am there.
Then will drive it until the k2/k3 shows issues, then rebuild the box.
Valve Bodies UK quoted me that price. It does not include any solenoids if required, but does include testing on their test rig and full cleaning.
I can buy a new valve body for £900 odd, so wouldn't spend £600 on a rebuilt one! Who quoted you that?
There are several vendors on Ebay quoting around £600 for a rebuild. I did look at the Valve bodies UK site, but unfortunately they do not post prices for their services.
I would wager that you £150 is to simply clean the valve block and test it. That in itself does have a value, it would hopefully tell you which, if any valves were leaking. Sonnex do at least 12 valve repair kits, some are £40, some £60 and others are a lot more if they contain reamers and reaming guides, then of course there's your conductor plate and solenoids. The money soon mounts up.
I'm too scared to ask MB for the price of a new valve block, i just can't bring myself to phone and ask!!
where does the adaptions info sit?
if you need the ISM and Conductor plate (like we all will at some point) are adaptions lost?
The adaption are like fuel trims, the TCU logs how long it takes to fill each clutch or brake and stores that value so it can 'pre fill' each actuator in readiness for the actual gearchange. This action effectively takes out the slop in clutch baskets and compensated for wear. So, as the compensation numbers rise we know roughly how knackered that particular clutch or brake. Very clever the way it works.where does the adaptions info sit?

There's nothing clever about the conductor plate though, its just a big printed circuit board with a couple of speed sensors moulded into it. It also houses and provides connectors for the valves. Sometimes the connections fail, sometimes the sensors. Time for a new one.where does the adaptions info sit?

thanks chaps,
to help traffic0703, so the (TCU) computer tries to self tune the gearbox adaptions (?)
what is it that manual intervention can do over and above an average computer getting it wrong ?
This forum also shows location if you use the mercedes custom style and not the default.Sorry, old forum used to show location. I am in west london
