Son has just telephoned me from relatives house where he is visiting to say the gearbox on his A class is refusing to engage 3rd gear on the move. Apparently stationary it will go in. First thoughts were it also applied to 3,4 and 5th but currently only to 3rd. He has to get back to Bristol (200 miles) tomorrow and has great concerns.
Comments as to cause would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks piestore. Would that likely to be ok when not on the move? I'll get Stuart (son!) to check it out. He currently has visions of a new gearbox (takes after his dad in always expecting the worse).
