Gearbox issue

Hi all. Car drives normally but occasionally after I stop to reverse onto my driveway, it won't go into reverse or drive. Turn engine off and restart and it's back to normal. Any ideas please.. .Thanks.

Dreaded electroplate?

You need a diagnostics check on the car first to avoid wasting money .
Have you checked the gearbox oil level ?
When was the last gearbox service and what mileage is the car on now ?
Is there oil leaking from the gearbox electrical connection ?

Has it got a red tab on the dipstick tube ? If it’s black it’s never been changed
