Gearbox problem

Hi Guys, thought id post my problem for any ideas

driving to g\f`s on sunday night, pulled over to fill up, when i took off again, the car would not change gear, the lever moves fine into D, but when you accelerate the revs just keep going up but no gear change... where it is supposed to change it seems to make a screaming noise, so i eased off. drove it to hers, and had it towed back last night at my expense ( as i found out i did not have recovery and only roadside and home start where they only tow you 10 miles! i had 52 miles to get back!). Mechanic is going to have a look tommorrow, wondered if anyone had any ideas?

an hour earlier i heard a noise like a bolt hitting the wheel arch and assumed it was something in the road, maybe that had something to do with it?

yep screaming when its trying to change, what are bands then?

im not sure

"power bands" are bassically the workings of ur transmission (i think). Im not up with the play with auto transmissions. If the screaming is coming from the tranny then my bet is its the bands.....

Here in new zealand all you have to mention is auto trans and it brings up the word expensive.

Dont take to much notice of what im saying untill you get some other opinions. My advice is to take it to a auto shop and ask them to take it for a drive and give a quote. Most will do this for free....

Other wise id say Andy is your man on here.....
