hi
i have an 05 c220k and when deccelerating into a sharp corner or turning right into a junction when i apply the revs again it kind of revs up and then levels out as though it can't decide what gear it want's to be in, just wondering if this seems right as it is the first petrol auto i have had (and MB warranty runs out end sept) the other thing is there is a rattling from underneath when going over certain type of bumps MB have replaced front struts drop links and i think anti roll bar bushes wonder if anybody has any suggestions to either of these probs would be much appreciated

Gearbox Slippage

If its a petrol, it will be either a C200 or a C230K! Assuming you are talking about 'normal' acceleration, I think what you are getting is due to the torque converter slipping in the lower gears until it catches up with the car's speed and isn't a problem. However, if you are still concerned and as the car is still in warranty, get it checked out by your Dealership. By the way, this seems to be exaggerated when using the W setting on the gearbox as it tries to avoid dropping to 1st, and therefore slips longer in 2nd.

Suspension noises in the 203 series is not uncommon and can be due to a variety of things....like the upper strut bearings, suspension arm bushes/ball joints and even the struts themselves apart from the bits you already have had replaced. Unfortunately my experience is that the Dealerships have difficulty in deciding which it is and its a matter of trial and error till they get it right! Keep at them till they sort it.

Maybe somebody else will want to add to the above?

Regards,

Ernie

An 05 autobox should be as tight and as grippy as any manual car, there should be no slippage or noticable revving ..get it back to the dealer pronto.. I have heard a lot of complaints about worn ball joints in the 03 on E class mercs, some of these being replaced at 20k..and less...

thanks for the quick replies it is a 200k not a 220 (spelling mistake) i have also noticed it seems to change up really quickly which doesn't seem to match the power band (even in s setting) and is slow to kick down sometimes, the car has done 77000 miles would it benefit from a gearbox oil change can't seem to find specified service interval in book
cheers

I wqould be thinking of an oil change around 60k, it can only help and will be beneficial to the life of the car
