Gearbox

Hi all,

I have a W210 E280 and my understanding of the gearbox is that when it is in drive and the car is facing up a slope, the car should not roll back. Is this correct because... My car does roll back which is slightly unsettling!!!

When I bought the car I remember having it parked on a relative's drive and it wouldn't roll back but it did on my friend's drive the other night.

If this is a problem, how big of a problem is it???

Have you put it in winter mode? as this will allow it to roll more easily. Also it will only hold up to a certain angle, my C class will manage to hold on slopes in multi story car parks if in S mode if in W mode it requires some throttle to hold.

It will roll back slightly, depending on how steep the slope is.
