gearbox?

i have recently noticed that my e200 auto {1999} is needing longer to change gears...i need to accelerate more to achieve the gear change and also heard noises which i believe could be lack of gear box oil...would this repair be expensive and has my gearbox had it?...someone please help...thanks

I would check the fluid level and look at the colour of the fluid, it should not be blackish or smell burnt.

The fluid should be changed at ever 60k miles along with the filter

I believe that most indies charge around £140 to do the job.
