I recently bought my bosses old '84 190E for $250! It looks great and he sold it because he just didn't want it anymore, plus it needed about $1,000 worth of work to get back on the road. I happen to be mechanically savy and thought I'd pick up the car and put a few wrench hours into it. Afterall, I did just finish a resto on a 1970 Chevelle! Anyways, my boss told me that it needed an Electronic Control Unit since it decided to not start every now and then. I just bought one and plan on replacing it in the next week or so. My questions start with these: Is there anything else I should check on while I'm replacing this control unit, i.e. fuses, wires, and other common areas that tend to lead to this type of non-starting behavior? And can someone please tell me what the normal operating temperature is for my particular model...it's the 190E 2.3 liter (4 cyl) with a 5-speed. I love the car almost as much as I love my Chevelle. It's incredibly classy and has amazing lines. Any information, suggests, help would be greatly appreciated. And, in case anyone is interested, I'm selling my chevelle due to relocating to a bigger city. I'm going to cry when she goes, but I'd love to sell it to someone who I know will take care of it, and no one takes care of cars better than a Mercedes owner. Thank you!
