Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anyone could give me their thoughts on the following situation......................

Last month was about to trade my current MB in for an AMG model at my local main dealer. Unfortunalty the AMG was sold and i have started to look for another.

2 weeks later same model is back for sale privately at same price due to "genuine reason for sale".

Contacted the seller who says it was bought as a present (some present!) but no longer required as they have to go away for 6 months due to work commitments.

I'm still interested in the car but my head is saying caution!

Any views????

Poss a bit iffy but may be geniune. Not worth the same price now though. You pay more if you buy from a dealer, everyone knows that, so he cannot expect someone to pay him, what he payed a dealer. Also, it will probably have another owner on the logbook which will de-value still further. What was it anyway??

Hello,

You can check the cars servicing etc with the dealer. There is NO way s/he should ask the same as the dealer.

If you had bought it from a dealer your paying a premium for the checks, warranty and to keep them in nice biscuits and earl grey tea.

Could be genuine but surely they would have known they were going away before buying? How many owners already and millage. It could be a Friday afternoon jobby..

If you were going to trade yours in the dealer was wining both ways also. You would be paying ticket price for the car and they would be offering you the trade value for yours.

How does the cars price / spec / etc compare with any others available. If its still comparable and you like it assuming all checks out still go for it just offer him a few thousand less.

:)

Thanks again,

Spec is good and history seems fine, the car was up at 2k MORE than when it was at main dealer, so i thought it was a trader trying to make a quick buck.

Its now been "reduced" to the original price iwas looking at.

Does anyone know if the teir 1 warranty is transferable??
