Would like to know the Spark plug gap and Points gap on my 1974 W114 250/8 2778cc M130 923

this info is according to mitchell repair book--
.016 inches or .4mm is points gap
dwell angle is 33-35*
breaker arm spring tension is 18-22 ozs
plug wire resistance is 25,000-30,000 ohms
ignition timing on a 74 model is 4 degress after tdc @ 800 rpm
75-76 models is 7 degrees btdc @ 800 rpm
77-79 is tdc @ 800 rpm

Fit an in distributor electronic system, fit and forget.
Much better cold/hot starting and smoother running.

So right, i fitted a Mobilec Magnum to my Rover V8. Buti do know you can get Lucas electronic distributors .There might do one for Mercs .

Try 123 ignition, they are a Dutch outfit
There are stockist in UK and may have one on the shelf for a W114
