Hi. All, new to this forum. Took delivery of a new GLE350de in the last month. Over the moon with the drive and comfort of it. Only issue I have is that after charging fully, the electric range is only 44 miles. Not 65,66 as published. Even allowing for the reduction due to ambient temperatures around 5C, this extremely disappointing. Anyone else discovered this?

Hello and welcome

You’re lucky if you get half of the stated range.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I would have thought, that after all the worldwide lawsuits(Dieselgate) Mercedes would be ultra careful in the specification of range with their. EV'S and PHEV'S. 44miles against 66 that is 33%less! Can you. Imagine the outcry from the public buying anything else and this happening.

Unfortunately all manufacturers are the same, not just MB.

EV’s are there to reduce BIK and meet another badly thought out regulation, nothing else. My neighbour can reverse off his drive with his before the engine has to kick in… he then has to carry around a heavy batter ruining his fuel economy for the rest of his journey. Some progress that is…:rolleyes:

Welcome aboard!

As per BC's comment above, PHEV-type hybrids are there really to play the BIK game, and at best cover a few miles in & out of towns in whisper mode. I'd say yours is doing on par (possibly a bit better) with most hybrids. So many variables to affect EV range, sadly.

Welcome,

What the manufacturers don’t say in their advertising is that to obtain those mileage figures conditions have to be absolutely ideal a sunny day in Cailfornia comes to mind - as you say it’s what isn’t advertised that’s important and yes it could be construed as a type of mis-selling, wouldn’t stand up in a court though all Hybrids and EVs suffer the same drop in performance. Obviously the politicians aren’t bothered their current remit is to get as many people into this type of vehicle as quickly as possible, where we are going to get all the electricity from amazes me

And that is why Mercedes crossed me off their list to buy a EV Smart in 2011............I questioned their 84 mile range and I asked too many questions.
As Malcolm says it will do the mileage in their ideal world of a test bed, but out in the real world where you need to use all the electrical devices in the car that range shrinks like your goolies in an ice bath.......

Oh and welcome by the way :)

If you did that in the showroom, I suspect that's why you got crossed off their list of fabbo customers! :D

Hi all
As far as I know all manufacturers have to do the same test in the same conditions, I think it’s called the WLTP. It means that you can get a true comparison between brands/models. It’s not Mercedes fault
