I've what i think is a short circuit glow plug problem (battery falltened in 1 hour with ign off) well i've ordered a service manual but it hasn't turned up yet, just woundering if anyone knows where the glow plug relay is situated on a right hand drive sprinter 316 cdi. First port of call after checking the glow plugs

common fault, n/s just of-set from the battery!

i guess as the glo plug currents are so high x 5 that a fuse would be impractical. I guessing again now but a short circuit glow plug could 'weld' the relay closed hence the battery drain. Will find out tonight!

a little more on my sprinter problem...I used the van this weekend and after switching on the glo plug light came on then went out and the van started just fine. I drove for 50 miles without the light coming on again (road conditions - dry), after stopping for a 'liquid lunch' i set off again and the light came on and stayed on this time. I haven't been able to locate the relay (looking at the engine bay from the front, the battery is on the right but nothing could be seen behind the battery) my manual hasn't turned up yet so i'm a little stumped at the momnt.
Anyone shed any light or has anyone had this happen to them?
thanks
carl
