Hi,
When I was changing the light bulb in the Glove Box lamp on my 03 SL (R230), the spring and white clip fell out. Can someone take a picture of their light so I can put this back to together to the right way.

I have attached a picture, this is the lamp that is inside the glove box on the top. It has two notches where the clips are that you can snap it out to replace the light bulb.

If anyone can take 5 minutes to check and take a picture of their glove box lamp that would be greatly appreciated. Then I can put mine back together and not stress about it anymore.

Thanks in advance.

The spring goes under the switch plate to operate the switch

As per the picture above this is the same as the light in my 209 CLK glovebox, which is currently not working, although all other internal illumination in the car does seem to be working. I've also checked the fuse for the glove compartment light.

I'm trying to understand how the unit works, if anyone can help me. Power comes in via the connection on the top RHS of the housing as you look at the picture. The switch mentioned by the OP would appear to interrupt the power as the glovebox is closed, which would make sense.

The thing is when the glovebox is open, and the switch is allowing power through, by what route does the power get to the bulb? Should there be anything connected at the top LHS of the housing, or is this for use in other applications?

Kind of a longshot, but worth asking. Is the Ignition on?

All help appreciated but yes, I've tried putting the ignition on.

M6 Cab - prior to that, SL63 AMG, A-M V8 Vantage, SL55, SL500 and many more
one of mine did exactly that - I got the light out at which point several bits fell off :( and the method of operation became a bit of a mystery

I decided the glove box was so small it didn't need a light anyway, so stuck the diffuser bit back in and forgot about it.

Sorry that doesn't answer your question but sometimes life seems too short!!
