Hi all I have a v reg mercedes sprinter horsebox and have issues with the immobiliser. The glow plug light stays on and the engine won't start. Does anyone know if you can remove the immobiliser from these vehicles as this problem has been ongoing for over 2 years now.
Had new ECU! Immobiliser and fuze box and the problem was fine for a year but has now returned!

you're not exactly going to get your inbox filled with info on how to by-pass an immobiliser on a vehicle ;)

Glow plug light staying on will be your Merc telling you that a glow plug or glow plug relay is goosed.

Sorry ... but can't help with the immobiliser fault.

Any reputable garage will sort your immobiliser out but telling you how as above is tantamount to giving you a howto on horsebox theft and would probably be swooped on by our glorious leaders.

Glowplugs on the other hand are like testing fuses with your ohmmeter to isolate any faulty ones first before looking at the relay.

One other thing the glowplugs helpfully get hot when there working so if you can if can reach them gingerly touch them or use one of those infrared thermometers.

Changing them could be a page full if there seized in.

FFS DON'T touch them to see if they're hot .... they get stupidly hot very very very quickly if you power them up on your drive .... apparently!:oops::oops::oops::rolleyes:

This vehicle has cause me so many issues and a lot of money and the issue is still not fixed its defo not glow plugs as it started fine on cold morning drove it for half hour switched it off for 2 minutes then when I went to turn on again it wouldn't start.
I called the breakdown and booked them to collect me kept trying the vehicle and then on the 100th time the glow plug light goes ok and vehicle starts fine.

I was going to say poss a power flow fault or lack of power .
Didn’t these looms rot in the engine bay ??
I would be looking at the wiring that maybe poss sends power to immobiliser / glow output stage relay .
Just a thought.
