glow plug light Stays on!

Hi,can anybody tell me the problem with my 311cdi.The battery went flat due to me leaving the interior lights on .I jump started the battery and ever since when i turn the ignition on the glow plug light comes on for a few seconds ,goes off as normal so i start the engine.Then after about 20 seconds the light comes back on and stays on until the ignition is turned off.Plus the battery keeps going flat,but is this just that it has given up? Any ideas would be much appreciated,cheers.

i have the same problem on my E300 im told i have one or more faulty glow plugs

Could also be the relay or fuse if you have jump started. Don't know about your model but on mine the glow plug light will go out when cylinders warm even with duff glow plugs.

If anybody else has this problem,it turned out to be the glow plug relay.On the sprinter positioned under the battery and a simply fix.Cheers.
