Just recently got a 280TE.................brilliant motor.

Can anyone please recommend which would be the best glue to re-glue the wood effect trim on the glove box. It obviously has to withstand quite high temperatures, and not effect the trim!!

Thanks.

Hi Malcolm,

on the glovebox, the trim is only now held on by the catch, whereas immediately to the right of that, about 2"-3" of trim has lifted.

Thanks for the reply and welcome

I would have said that a aerosol of impact adhesive would be the only thing to use, the spray is so fine that you can cover both surfaces without making it to thick or lumpy. lift it wood effect trim away as far as you can without breaking it and put a pen in between while it is drying, then roll the pen towards the edge. when pressing down, it is important to work from the center where it is ok and work your way towards the edge, this is to avoid a lump in the middle, hope this is clear.

When glueing laminate onto a large surface by putting sticks in between the two surfaces, it can be posistioned exactly and by removing the sticks one by one you can press the laminate down with no air pockets for wiht impact glues you do not get a second chance

Thank's for that Malcolm. Very helpful. I can mask off surrounding areas to prevent any overspray. Had thought of a two part glue originally, but the aerosol idea nicely eliminates the problem of how to get the glue into the vanishingly small gap where the trim starts to be still attached.

Where did the amazing valve caps come from, and on the same note, do you know if MB or anyone else does sets of chrome wheels nuts (for my alloys) also with a logo on them?

Its easy to buy Chrome wheel bolts but not with the MB logo on, cant say that I have seen those

The valve caps are on Ebay from time to time, though from Tiawan they came from Ebay USA

Yes,if you cant take the lid off, do mask up well.
